malek256 20 November 2008 10 days until my vacation! malek256 14 November 2008 Hey Mr. World Traveller - back to lifting huh? We are off to the Dominican Republic Barnz! barnz2k 13 November 2008 Hey - still alive. Back IN London. At square one but back in the Gym.
Woohoo Malek - where you going? malek256 12 November 2008 17 days! malek256 11 November 2008 oh we will!!!!!
I am trying two things for the last month and a half to slow down/regrow some of my hair without resorting to drugs that block DHT formation - I don't want those around the house or in my blood just in case they could result in birth defects; you never know...
So, as a result my hair has been abandoning ship the last 4 years and doing so more rapidly as we progress. I've done a lot of reading (are you surprised? me, reading? LOL) about various options. One that's intrigued me is the use of a brush with lasers within to try to trigger dormant hair into a regrowth phase. Sounds hoky as hell...but the research and methodology is relatively convincing.
So...on the advice of BigVrunga who's already used this with some degree of reported success, I took the plunge and ordered the brush from Amazing Laser Brush. I have been using it about 6 out of 7 evenings when I can and took a picture of the top of my balding head before I started.
In the last week I have also started with topical Minoxidil (spray) and took a picture prior to doing so, to judge "just" the brush's activity. I can already SEE a difference! Now I have not done a side-by-side compare of the pics, because I want to determine just how far off my own belief is.
I will continue this regimen and try to have a picture taken on a monthly basis for comparison, in case any one else considers this route.
FYI: BigVrunga off of http://anabolicminds.com told me to check out a guy who does this as a home business, he sells them for about $80 vs. the $600!!! tag that the "professional" ones go for. As far as I can tell, they are identical...
Unless I am seeing things, there is definitely increased hair! That is just one month and supposedly isn't really long enough for it to have taken effect - it's supposed to be "most visible" after 2-3 months...
I picked up the 4 laser brush. The instructions are for the 6-laser brush but i was sceptical...so I cheaped it out LOL Now I now better (and hopefully so do you) so get the 6-laser if you're going to pick one up.
Anyway, as a result, you're supposed to use the 4-laser one for 20 minutes a day for 2 weeks, then go to every other day and then to twice a week.
I use it for 10 minutes every day and intend to keep it that way as I think it will work well but it's also time I can afford. I just don't really have the 20 minutes in one shot.
FYI: I was amazed today when I looked into the mirror. It is definitely thickening. Maybe it's just feeling better about myself, who knows but to me I look about 3 years younger.
EDIT: yeah, I just scrolled up and checked the beginning pic. NO QUESTION it is working. Wow, so I wonder how far it will go...interesting.

Looking good there bro! Another thought, have you looked into surgical alternatives, Bosley maybe? That might be another option, I am not sure about the pros and cons of it, but from what I hear, its pretty permanent. Speaking of which, are the effects of the laser comb long term?
Heya Sleek. Well, if I'm going to go with a surgical that would involve a lot of cash which is beyond what I think is reasonable for a purely cosmetic thing. But if I was going to, I'd prefer to wait for hair cloning rather than thin out my remaining hair as I suspect that's not that many years off.
As for long term with the laser brush, I really don't know. Obviously, something that helps while you use it will stop helping if you stop using it...so I'm pretty sure the brush needs to become a long-term habit to adopt. I don't actually mind that, especially since I do other things while brushing and I'm currently "overbrushing" (just needs twice a week for maintenance) as part of the experiment.
I am about to start up with pGH from UniversalKits. This is an oral suspension* for helping to activate a growth hormone release. One of the theoretical effects is to reactivate hair colour.
I will combine this regimen in for 2 months and see if anything's noticable in terms of the greying going on in the remaining hair.
* I'm pretty sure most users of pGH get "creative" with the means of administering the compound as oral absorption will be less than other means. Good for them but that is not going to include me as I'm fully law compliant. So if you read this and think "ha ha, those results are only that good/bad/whatever because he's actually pinning, nope. What I describe is what happens."
I just cut my hair about half an hour before this pic, so in theory it should look worse than the first pic. I think it looks better. There were two weeks here where I really couldn't follow the nightly regimen I was using as I've been so damned ill. Still seems okay.
Note that the pGH I picked up was the transdermal kind, and note that after a month now I see LESS grey hair, or is that my imagination?
I have told my dad about this and he is really interested! Though in his own words 'I'll wait till the guinea pig has finished!!!' So, thanks for all this info man!

Why don't you try revivogen malek? It's natural.
www.revivogen.com
I will consider this Alex, thanks for the info. It is still a 5-reductase inhibitor (affects hormones), though it's topical vs. systemic (a big reason for my to consider it) and it looks to be only slightly systemic. I am however concerned about 5-reductase inhibitions with regards to the potential for birth defects. There may be one day another baby in the future...
I'd also wait for a few months as I want to show the effectiveness of the laser comb and not interfere with its results demonstration, but this idea is definitely on the back burner.
email revivogen and ask them. They "say" it's all natural and it's been voted on www.askmen.com the #1 product in hairloss. I know propecia works 100%. I have a twin and we both have healthy hair, but he thought he was losing his hair around 16 yrs old so he got propecia and used it ever since. His hair is a little healthier than mine. I am thinning a little bit on the hair line(receding area). I was thinknig of trying revivogen since I heard a lot of good stuff about it. My hair is great but I still want to be safe than sorry. How can revivogen give birth defects?? Is it because of the 5-reductase?
